If your driving license has been revoked due to drink driving, you can apply for a driving license with conditions regarding an alcohol interlock. We will help you with all parts of the application to the Swedish Transport Agency.

The process step by step:

If your driver's license is at risk of being revoked due to drink driving, you may be able to continue driving with a breathalyzer installed. This option requires an application for an alcohol lock.

To be approved for an alcohol lock, you must:

• Hold a driving license issued in an EEA country.
• Be a permanent resident of Sweden.
• Carry out a medical assessment with urine and blood tests. We help you with that.
• Have your license revoked or risk having it suspended for drunk driving.

Please note that drunk driving with drugs in the blood excludes the possibility of an alcohol interlock. In this case, you can instead begin a period of testing to get your driver's license back. Drug treatment with narcotics must be prescribed by a doctor and not pose a risk to road safety. Fines or prison sentences are not affected by the decision on an alcohol interlock.

Condition period with Alkolås

The probationary period is one or two years, depending on the nature of the offense and previous drunk driving history. The time is counted from the time the decision on alcohol lock is announced.

A two-year probation period applies for serious drunk driving or repeated drunk driving offenses in the last five years, in other cases one year.

To get your regular driver's license back after completing the alcohol interlock period, you must apply 6 months before your probation period expires.

About Alkolåset

The alcolock is a device that is installed in the car and prevents the car from starting without an approved breath test. To start the vehicle and also while driving, you are required to take a breath test, which is recorded by the alcolock. Users with special needs regarding breathing technique should contact an alcolock supplier in advance.

During the conditional period, you must drive vehicles equipped with personal alcohol interlocks approved by the Swedish Transport Agency from authorized suppliers. The alcohol interlock requires regular maintenance and service.
