To be approved for an alcohol lock, you must:
Hold a driving license issued in an EEA country.
Be a permanent resident of Sweden.
Have your license revoked or risk having it suspended for drunk driving.

Note that drunk driving with drugs in the blood excludes the possibility of alcolock. Then you can instead start a period of tests to get your driver's license back. Drug treatment with drugs classified as narcotics must be prescribed by a doctor and not pose a risk to traffic safety. Fines or prison sentences are not affected by the decision on an alcohol ban.
The probationary period is one or two years, depending on the nature of the offense and previous drunk driving history. The time is counted from the time the decision on alcohol lock is announced.

To get your regular driver's license back after the end of the period with an alcohol lock, you must apply for it 6 months before your condition expires.
